My county just doesn't have the proper resources to keep the already unsafe roads safe.

started flurrying maybe an hour ago, Huskies are enjoying it! Would upload picture but camera is dead.

My school is so hesitant about cancelling that I think someone should complain to the board. Most of the roads around here are untreated by the time morning rolls around (and I have to be waiting for the bus before dawn). Even when every school in the county is shut down, my school will keep holding up until the last second. The first time there was a cancellation this year, I was standing up by the road in the middle of a blustery ice storm at 24 degrees waiting for the bus. The bus was supposed to show up at 6:30 (and begins running prior to 6:00), and I was watching the news like a hawk waiting until the last second for a school closing. By 6:50, I was like, "Screw this, I'm not going to wait anymore" and went back in the house. About five minutes after I went back in the house, the school sent a cancellation notice.

I don't know what the heck is their honest problem.

Where do you live? I live near D.C in Virginia and whenever we get Snow warnings we already have salt on the roads and snowplows also we have snow evacuation routes...

My school system is the same way unless its an absolute emergency, which in this case it is. This state rarely sees this sort of snowfall rate.

I live in Kentucky, the roads are plowed and salted constantly but its not enough

Well, out of the past snow falls we've never gotten any on the road

i'm probably getting a school closure tomorrow since i'm supposed to be getting at least 8" of snow from the storm. now i have a little story to tell about a mistake my county made one day.

around a month ago, my county made the stupid decision to open up schools at normal time one day when there was some stuffty weather goin on. keep in mind that pretty much every county surrounding mine closed for the day due to said weather. there were dozens upon dozens of accident reports (142 to be exact), and a lot of kids showing up really late from the weather. i think a few kids even got injured in a car accident goin to school. as you could imagine, a lot of people were pissed. i still think it's bullstuff that we didn't even get dismissed early or anythin, seeing that the county probably knew they forgeted up by the time the accident reports started rolling in that morning. i remember everyone getting really excited during second period to hear the announcements come on, just to hear completely unrelated news, thus crushing everyone's hopes of leaving early. ahhh, the joys of living in maryland.

Well, we have. Our roads aren't magical snow destroying roads.

Pretty sure that the county can get into a lot of trouble for pulling that sort of stunt

No snow for me at all this year. Where I live we don't get much, most years we get one or two days where we get snow, but the last couple years there's been none.
