He did a lot of stuff to make it relevant. We could bring up other dictators in the world. --- Quote from: Heitmeyer² on April 15, 2015, 04:57:02 PM ---Referring to the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution while discussing gun rights in today's society is outrageous. It was written over 200 years ago, and back then is a very different time from today. In my opinion, guns need to be regulated alot more than they are today. They also need to be taken off the streets somehow, but that would be tough. Too many psychopaths are getting ahold of guns nowadays, killing innocent lives in elementary schools and other public locations. Freedom of gun rights might've been a good idea 200 years ago, but certainly not today. --- End quote --- Stop watching MSN and CNN. Back then people in the colonies and European countries owned guns. It was the norm back then. Many people hunted, many people used them to protect their homes, many of them used them to overthrow governments. Most of those amendments date back to the founding and were response to the British treatment of the colonies. You know what was a cruel and unusual punishment back then? Putting you up on display to have rotten fruit thrown at you, or having a rope tied to your neck and leg and spending the day hunched over. Or be dunked and water boarded in public. Freedom of Speech? Speak against the king or the government and they imprisoned you. Quartering of troops? British troops use to be able to come into your home, sleep on your bed, eat your food, and leave without paying a cent. Also do you expect police and military to go door expecting people to willingly give up their guns. Do expect those same police and soldiers who are pro-2nd amend to comply? |
