Based on what, a bunch of whiny teenagers on the internet? That's hella reliable, for sure.

--- Quote from: Kingdaro on April 20, 2015, 03:00:35 AM ---our bullstuff grading scale that doesn't even consider a 50% a passing grade

"Half of perfect" is not going to be good enough for anything in reality.

--- Quote from: Kingdaro on April 20, 2015, 03:00:35 AM ---people need to learn how to get through life, not that mitochondria is the powerhouse of a cell.

This will always be the stupidest argument possible against education; there is nothing wrong with learning general knowledge on top of "practical" skills.

--- Quote from: Kingdaro on April 20, 2015, 03:00:35 AM ---I debated even making this reply, because all you seem to do anyway is find places where you can act like a self-absorbed, witty richardbag to people.

"wahh wahh someone disagrees with me they must hate everyone!"
Grow up.

--- Quote from: ultimamax on April 20, 2015, 12:51:40 AM ---public school should never be mandatory.
the prompt implies that private school would be not allowed at some level of education

I figured this would be a given, but that's clearly a miswording in the title. What kind of question would that even be?

I do agree with this slightly.  Though I think in high school, you should learn practical everyday skills along with learning general educational knowledge so you have a better perception of what you're gonna do and how you're gonna do it once you've graduated.

General educational knowledge is more important depending on what you're gonna rely on/go for later in life.
But, language and math (or at least basic math) skills are quite important no matter what you're doing or gonna do.
