I didn't say inflation. I said it'll cost business owners more money, and in order to compensate for the extra money they're spending on employees, they will raise the prices of their products that YOU consume, which affects you, making it seem like your dollar isn't as useful as it once was.

I think that $7.25 is a ridiculously small amount to pay someone. I don't think that the minimum wage should be a livable wage, however some people make wrong choices -- and you cannot make expect financial literacy from three hundred million citizens. You also don't want to drive more businesses out of America though, as we've already driven tons out because of our 30% corporate tax. The average college tuition in America is well above $20,000, minimum wage cannot pay that off, especially when you factor in the cost of living and general bills. Out of all high performing countries with high GDP's, which are first world and developed- America has the lowest minimum wage. (BTW Singapore doesn't have a set minimum wage).
Rigel:
No, if minimum wage is increased, then prices shall increase, and the worth of the dollar shall fall. It would only feed inflation.

The US Dollar is one of the few currencies which has remained stable for decades. Raising the minimum wage wouldn't cause inflation, that is if you don't just raise it like that. Take a look at this:

It is healthy economically to gradually raise the minimum wage.
