I just refer to things by what they are.
Colas are called either Coke or Pepsi.
Lemonade covers Sprite, 7Up, maybe Lilt.
Anything fruity I will ask for by name. Tango, Fanta, etc..
If I'm in a restaurant or pub where I might not see their brands of fizzy drink I usually just ask for lemonade, and usually get whatever brand. Probably Schweppes or some wholesale generic brand.
Any other instance and there's usually a sign and I was blessed with the ability to read.

I expect you never have to ask for lemonade, but always ask for irn bru instead because you don't live in a 3rd world country and know what's good for you
