Not sure what you're trying to imply here.
In the EU they just 'elected' thenselves in all the time.
We in the UK have what's called a general election every 5 years or less which allows us to vote for who we'd like to be running our country.

yes i live in the UK i am aware of how things work here. we don't vote for our prime minister. we vote for an mp.
i didn't get an option to vote for theresa may, but lo and behold

You don't need to, it's not like we ever had an option to vote for Gordon Brown after Blair left office. He just took over without an election so I really don't see why one would be needed for Theresa May.

I don't know if you're making a joke, or a mistake, or don't know, but you've said it twice now.
The UK is leaving the EU (European Union) not the UN (United Nations).

I think his point was more that we only vote in a few MEPs, while all other countries do the same.
The end result is that 5% of MEPs represent British interests, and 95% don't. Those 95% can pass laws against the will of our 5% and against British interest.
That's obviously the case for every other member too. But it just means we all get a bum deal. The member with the most power is the one with the deepest pockets, Germany, because Germany holds clout over the nations it is funding.
The sad truth of the EU is that often European ideals do not reflect national ideals. And at some point members have to decide which is more important. Keep Brussels happy, or keep your people happy.
