Author Topic: ey how do i stop my roommates from blocking my ip on the router  (Read 1610 times)

they've got a thing against me and want to block me for some reason
[they didn't even give me the password in the first place but i managed to connect with the code on the router itself]

i'm not sure if they'll even manage to pull it off but if they do, what's the best way to evade this?

[also, tell me if the post breaks any rules. i'll edit it all out if it does.]

Go into your router firmware by browsing to 192.168.1.1 and ensure that your MAC/IPv4 address stays out of a certain blocklist/bandwidthcap.

You can find these in the CMD screen.
Go to your CMD panel, type ipconfig

If you do not know the password to the firmware, you can reset it by manually resetting the router and afterwards finding the default credentials at http://www.routerpasswords.com/ or a site that executes the same concept but better.

if you have or can guess the administrator password (quite easy if it's left default) you could try logging in and forget with the settings until it works. what is the router model?

well i connected to 192.168.0.1 and it's apparently a mikrotik router; they've made 3 routers, all have the default combo of admin + blank password, which doesn't work

i'm starting to doubt they actually know how to block me but if they do, still

Then it's probably fixed with a new password. Just follow my guide on how to reset that.

yeah i'm gonna try not to forget with the router itself, if i forget it up it'll be really obvious that i've tampered with it and i wanna stay sneaky

Did you pay for (or help pay for) the router? If you didn't, I don't think you can legally do anything about it. If it becomes a problem, just buy your own router.

my roommates as in dorm roommates
i'm in high school lol don't bring legal matters into this

You have dorms in high school? Whatever, if that's the case, just talk to the people in charge of the school, or your building, or whatever.
Also, laws still apply to high school students.

just mask ur MAC address.  it's not hard.

Death threats might work.

i've found this solution to be extremely quick and effective, i'd recommend it over any technical solution that might take out time from your precious day.
