Gojira:
I do the same as Bell, engaging Jag 4.
Qwepir:

stuff, why'd I fire the gun?! My Gods, I forfeit a lot of speed to get 60° to the aspect of the missiles. Now my underbelly is exposed! I wonder if I can force an overshoot. But this guy has to be an ace!

Though you evade all but two of the MMS, the enemy plane closes the distance and opens fire on your underside with its beam laser, carving into your wings but fortunately not doing any severe or maneuverability-hampering damage.

I bank quickly to the right
"how nice of them to give us a welcome."

You are now the closest person to your squad leader and the most likely to be able to help.

The cannonfire rakes across the enemy plane, it is now on fire and putting out a lot of smoke.

You both "merely" land glancing hits, with varying degrees of severity. Jaguar-4 is temporarily shaken and unable to get on Tourist's back immediately, while Jaguar-8 launches a pair of JSMs at the fleet before attempting to break off and evade Shortsword. One of the missiles is taken care of by allied PD, but the second smacks into one of the assault ships' hulls above the waterline.
: Allied planes, are you still out there? We're taking fire from hostile aircraft; the Isokaze is on fire and we're not doing much better here on the Akagi, please assist.

In the meantime, one of the Jags is taken down by Crash's drones, and Shortsword's drone gets hit a few times by the Sabre's pulse laser.

Badger:
I double back a let rip on my LCP so I can get a feel for how much heat it will take while dishing out a lot of fire on the Sabre-1 , I accompany this with a HSM.

"I'll try and get him dodging me - speed ahead if you can; he won't be able to catch up."
Gojira:
"forget this."
I move to engage Jaguar 5 with my GAU-8s and an AAM.
Mr. Hurricane:
I turn into the Sabre in attempt to force him to overshoot. He's moving fast, but I'm helping to close the distance. I believe my calculations to be correct, he should overshoot, but there's no doubt he will recover quickly.

"Walt, he's overshooting now! Get that Sabre!"

I slam the afterburners and firewall the throttle. The aircraft thunders forward, the sound of the engines is akin to a rocket, roaring and crackling. The engines are so gods' damned forceful. The airspeed indicator is rolling wildly, we're slow, but accelerating quickly.

I love it.

The Sabre will be on me again, maybe I should get him in a scissors. No. That maneuverability is near impossible to match in an aircraft this size.

I feel a pressure grabbing me beneath my ribcage. It's shear anxiety. I clench my teeth and rack my mind for my next move.

I finally process Walt's statements, and contemplate going ahead.
