Gus finishes his coffee, bids his squadmates goodnight and heads back to his quarters. He flops on to his bed, worn out but unable to sleep. The past day has given him much to think about and reminded him of many things he'd prefer to forget. He eventually dozes off, only to awake later in a cold sweat. Try as he might, he can't stop thinking of those hollow, soulless eyes looking back at him. After pacing for some time, he walks down to the gym with his sparring gear to clear his head. It is still the dead of night, and sunrise is hours away. |
