Author Topic: Has anyone else been following this Germanwings crash?  (Read 1787 times)

Who takes a person with a history of mental illness an allows them to co-pilot a plane?
if you've watched the news any time recently it says he's been hiding it

anyone care to explain what a baneposter is?
I believe a fan of Bane, from The Dark Knight Rises.
At the beginning of the film there's a hijacking of a private passenger plane over some mountains.

But, I've just watched that scene, and neither of the two planes had 4U in any part of their number, unless 4U is significant for another reason. There's one line where someone says to Bane "You're a big guy", and Bane responds "For You". That's a rather tenuous connection.
Also, the plane in the film didn't fly over Dignes as far as I can tell, unless the reference here is it being Dignes-les-baines, and baines being similar to bane.

And other than that, there's no similarity between the two situations at all.
In the film the plane was boarded and shot by men with SMG's mid-air, towed by a larger plane, and then had it's tail cut off and was dropped down onto a plain.
The Germanwings plane diverted somewhere over Dignes, and flew into Germany far off course, where it collided with a mountain.

I'm confused. Surely the airline must have access to their pilots medical records, obviously for safety reasons. How could he hide it if it is on record?

Pilots are tested for medical and physical illnesses, and on sign up, for psychological illnesses. They don't test for psychological illnesses ever. Only medical and physical.
He could've developed after testing.

What's legitimately entertaining to me is that people have been saying "wow, why do you think people with depression are afraid to talk about it!!!!" in regards to all the big headlines about this. Like, what? Yes, morons, you're unfit to pilot an airplane, and if you choose to do so you will stick out when you inevitably kill yourself and everyone with you.

Aww man, I've watched that film several times now, and I even watched the entire airplane scene before I made my earlier post, but I have only just realised that it's Aiden Gillen (Littlefinger from Game of Thrones) playing that role, thanks to your .gif.
