I dont watch much anime, but if i were to recommend anything id say Persona 4. Really good dub and if you want to go further into the story the game is great. You can find it on kissanime.

This is a great start.  The sub is good, but it's actually one of the few anime where I prefer the dub

I was going to ask eventually in the Anime and Manga Megathread, but I am also interested in watching something new.
I kinda want to watch something a little bit spooky/creepy, rather than action-packed, and preferably not in a hyper-realistic style, if that makes sense. Closer to a cartoon style, I suppose.

But I don't really care if it's subbed or dubbed. And whatever means I can watch it through, besides Netflix, as I don't have that.

Well if you're looking for cartoonish style while mysterious and spooky I can't help you there, but if you haven't seen Death Note, that is a must watch.

FMA Brotherhood

This so hard.  Watching the original FMA after watching Brotherhood three times, and I'm enjoying all the little subtleties that have been put into Brotherhood that reference the original FMA.  I recommend Brotherhood above the original, and if you decide to watch both, wait until afterwards to see FMA and treat them like completely different series.

FMA Brotherhood is preferable to FMA. Long run and interesting story.

RWBY (Not made in Japan but has an inspired anime look to it. Season 1 starts out slow but season 2 gets better and has longer episodes.)
Teen Titans (Not made in Japan either but has an inspired anime look to it as well. Also this is not to be mistaken with Teen Titans Go, that one is only comedy.)

context: gundam unicorn is actually good, gundam 00 is problematic but enjoyable (first season) and gutter trash (second season, movie)

also unicorn's dub is better than 00's

00 is a good starting point for gundam
it shows you to how good it can be
and how stuffty the rest of it is

i like unicorn (or at least the first half), but it's a horrible starting point. its not something you should watch before other UC series.
