Some things to try:
- Help some of the other Vault dwellers with their little tasks, leave the Vault for 24 hours and come back
- Complete the "Confidence Man" quest and wait for Travis to mention Vault 81 on Diamond City Radio
- Find the starting parameter for the "Hole in the Wall" quest and use it with the "setstage" console command

i had the same 'i solved the quest too fast' problem. just leave, do some stuff then come back
also so bear with me here: it's already been established that curie's mind is portable and was readily transmitted between her original body and a synth's
suppose we were to take curie and put her in, say, a deathclaw
like we know for a fact that deathclaws are sapient and capable of complex tasks like talking and maintaining a forgetin vault (on some level) so it stands to reason they are at least capable of science, and maybe it might be necessary to note that it would be a synth deathclaw but that still comes with the fact that synth brahmin exist. the real question is would the world benefit from a 12-foot-tall scientist who can turn invisible and punch through a foot of metal armor with her bare hands
