I don't like adding to the complaining but the brotherhood of steel is extremely loving handicapped here you have one of the top dogs in the BoS turns out to be a synth and even though he's a thinking, feeling machine who has his own morals that align with the BoS but as soon as they catch wind that he's a robo dude they want his loving head I can't tell if it's stuffty writing or if the BoS is meant to be employed by mentally disable manchildren and to add to that the whole I, Robot overtone throughout the whole game feels more hamfisted than anything. Nick Valentine is seriously cool but you really can't expect to player to feel sympathetic for an entire forgetin' robot race of mary sues who may or may not automatically shoot at you regardless of your stance |

I get that the BoS is popularly depicted as overzealous bigots but the character's writing is so sloppy it's jarring and awkward SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT: [Maxson acts like Synth!Danse stuff on his birthday cake or something when he learns that Danse is a synth. Seriously, he shows up instantly and tells the same person that Danse mentored to just straight up find and destroy him I get that they hate synths but this really takes away from any character development because Maxson's attitude switched like a forgetin light switch, from 0 to 100 and everything that previously happened doesn't even matter contextually At that point he isn't even really a character, just a waking, talking plot device. It's forgetin shallow] |
