What the hell of course not
it helps nothing
interrogation is the only occasion where it should even cross your mind for it to be an option

Taya's got it right

Torture is inhumane and generally a waste of time and money.

torture them with ycyl and the deviantart thread

As punishment, torture is never okay. But if it would work in order to save thousands of lives, like
Torture is not ok unless it's on a terrorist that hid a nuke somewhere and you need to know where it is to stop it from going off. Torturing as punishment is stupid and pointless.
Otherwise, they should either be jailed or executed depending on the crime.

If proven innocent we also need to be prepared to compensate the person who was tortured very generously. Yet we send so many innocent people away scarred by some of the waterboarding we've done and quite possibly worse. You better be prepared to PAY for your actions against another being before you dish it out. It disgusts me.

we should have firing squad executions

we should have firing squad executions
Gunshots to the head are pretty swift and painless. That does make sense.

Lethal injection is also swift and painless, and a corpse with fatal nerve damage is a hell of a lot less gruesome than one with a hole in its face. Public perception of a method is just as if not more important than the actual method, especially to the government.

Lethal injection is also swift and painless
Debatable... I've heard there were a lot of failures because the government couldn't get a hold of a quality drug because none of the drug companies wanted their drugs to be used for killing.

we should have something that ruptures the brain stem
quick and possibly done without a hole in the face

Allow me to correct: Lethal injection, when done right, is swift and painless.
There is also potential for failure with firing squads, the largest issue being that the initial shots do not fully kill the victim - either due to poor execution (no pun intended) by the firing squad or inadequate firepower. Either way, there is potential for failure with both methods, but lethal injection is obviously much less gruesome and therefore appears much more acceptable in the public eye.

That's called a shot to the back of the head, and bares the same issues as a firing squad. Injecting an explosive pellet into the victim would also be pretty disgusting when it broke the thin skin in the back of the head, and would as well be impractically expensive.

No. Nobody deserves to be tortured, no matter how heinous their crime. Torture was something we did in the 1400s. We are more civilized than that.
breathing was also something we did in the 1400s

Although I don't think it's necessary, it's only going to damage their sanity more. The only purpose is vengeance. Those that are incarcerated for life are incarcerated to keep them out of civilization, and torture doesn't really do anything to help. And if you're insane enough to be a Flash Mober, the thought of torture won't deter you anyway.

However, I don't think there's a need to make execution swift and painless.

People have invented torture methods to try and justify their sadistic needs with the reason that it gives them "information" quickly. It doesn't work and it never will. But it's sure satisfying to beat a criminal to the pulp.

listen im sorry for saying he should have been tortured. it does sound kinda messed up when i think about it.  that still does not change my idea he shouldnt be killed like he killed the people he did
