i asked you what the reason to have one was and the best answer you gave me was "i don't have to take my phone out of my pocket sometimes"
Okay.
You're right. That is basically the best reason for it.
Let me give you an example that happened today where my watch came in handy.
I was at work, finishing up a project. Generally, I leave at 4 PM, but today I was rushing to finish this project. My mom got there at ~3:58 to pick me up, and sent me a message telling me she was here. Now, since I'm rushing already, I don't have time to pull out my phone, open hangouts, read the message and reply, so instead I glance at my watch, see that she's here, and with roughly ~2 second replied with "Give me a minute," and got back to my work.
Sure, I could have not said anything, but my mom gets mad when we don't reply, so I did with only a couple seconds lost on my part.
I'm fortunate enough to be a middle class American citizen. We have things that we don't need, but we have because they make our lives just a little easier.
If you think a smartwatch serves zero purpose, I don't suppose you should be wanting a TV remote when you could just change the channel on the TV itself. Or keyless entry on your car. Or an ice dispenser on your fridge. Because hey, you could just put your key in the lock and manually unlock the doors. Or just use an ice cube tray and manually get ice from the fridge.
You see, there are so many little things that aren't that significant, but still make a person's life just a little bit easier at times. A smartwatch is one of those things.
