why do i have 7 extra characters left in my sig but i cant use them?

i dont know if this was posted before, but has anyone ever had this problem? i suspect that its the link shorteners, but i highly doubt it.
searching doesnt really help and idk if this belongs in help or not, so please bare with me here.

im trying to use max characters, but when i use max characters, it removes the other 7 characters

If you have an img tag and the url inside it doesn't have "http://" in it, then it automatically adds that and counts it as part of the characters, I know this because it's happened to me before.

all the images in my sig(including ones that were shortened) have http:// s in them and img tags, i do have an image that i had to shorten its size because it looked incredibly large at one point, so i had to use width tags(width = 1000). would that cause it?

the [code][/code] tags also let you put in bbcode in the same way [nobbc][/nobbc] does.

And yes, you just copy-paste it inbetween the tags.

is.gd would offer more link compression, 1 or 2 characters which would make a large difference considering the problem.

Line breaks are considered as 2 characters (CR & LF) by SMF, but considered as 1 by JavaScript.
