Author Topic: why are the people that have been here for a long time still here?  (Read 2773 times)

This was the first multiplayer game I played, before even runescape. The community is still kinda important to me.

I've been on the forums for 6 years, but I'm around because of the actual game not the forums. If I stop playing Blockland then I'm leaving the forums too.

I think the last time I launched the game for more than 3 days in a row and "played" for more than 15 minutes was back in 2008.

Iv only been here for four years, and I don't really have room to speak as someone who's been around a long time, mostly considering there are a lot of 30ks. But, even If I wanted to leave, I can't.

While I might've not been on the forums for a long time, I just find this community enjoyable. It's small enough where you get to know people without drowning in the floods of new or old users. It felt like you truly got to know some people.

I've always loved the game, as well. The quirky physics engine, the really amazing builds by people like Brickitect, etc. It's easy to just have a multiplayer server and screw around in it with some buddies. The reason I never liked Minecraft servers is because Minecraft just felt so restricted compared to Blockland. While in Minecraft, you had really primitive circuits and systems, in BL, you could easily event and script.

Honestly what I think brought me back from last year was just boredom. I played BL all the time throughout 2009 - 2013, then just stopped for a while due to games like Garry's Mod or just simply learning to program. But one day, I decided to look up these forums again, assuming that there would be nobody on. I genuinely thought that BL was dead and gone for.

However, I was proven wrong. Very wrong. There was a thriving and genuinely friendly community, and that's kept me here to this day.

I've only been a forum regular for approaching two years but I've been with Blockland for about seven years now. I only join the forums mainly because of its very laid back and informal atmosphere and because I like seeing how terrible you guys can actually be. A lot of things I've seen (and even done on a couple occasions) would get me kicked out of a serious devoted forum in a heartbeat.

also not to mention blockland has just been the lego game ive always wanted. even when i was a little baby boy i said to myself "all i wanted was a lego game where i could build with no restriction and build with other people"

This.

Also, Blockland taught me what the internet was, and is the game I played for so many years.... If I don't have time to play the game because of schoolwork, I just go on the forums to keep touch with things that are happening until I can get back on

And one more thing: This community is loving hysterical. The "Blogland" forums responses to posts are great. I was dying during the thatsasnake.gif fiasco. Just a lot of memories

i like the community
its fun

95% of the people i've interacted with in the last 3 months are of blocklandish descent

aside from a handful of irl friends (namely, like 3?) all my friends are blocklanders like purplemetro, catzoo, kelblock, and wafflecake. and those anime forgeters like jonathan1 and john freeman are all bros

basically: i make friends on here and they're great, and i want more.

This is not healthy.

I've had, 'Why am I still here?' in my profile for years on different accounts now, so I guess I don't know.
