imo parts for cars made in another country usually cost more than parts for an american made car

I have a Kia and often find this to be the opposite.
Then again, I haven't had much go wrong with it except for the battery dying.

they're easy and cheap to fix
can't really get in trouble with them
plus its just plain cool to be able to daily drive a classic
and bonus points if its a manual

Anyways, Get a Pontiac at eBay or something like a Honda Civic. If you have enough money, an Acura TSX would be nice.

I suggest getting an Audi. You can get one with good mileage around $10k and it's also a really safe car.

that would probably be because of how much of their parts are made in america
I work for a company that makes some parts for some hyundai and kia cars
we make the plastic parts for heaters and blowers, and wheel guards and cowl tops (which are the bits that are stuck behind the hood, right in front of the windshield). I don't know what cars they belong to, just their internal identifiers :(
and there are both kia and hyundai factories nearby. there are so many korean people here

but for cars that are actually imported it would probably be harder to find parts

Rwd cars are notorius for having oversteer and while it shouldn't happen in normal driving situations it will happen in the snow. Setro lives in NY (I think) which from my experience has snow from late November to early May which means he is gonna get alot of wheel spin. A fwd or awd car will not oversteer because they are being pulled and not pushed.

I have a 2013 Volvo S60.

You can get a 2003 model for pretty damn cheap, like $5000. It comes with an automatic moonroof, full leather seats, heated seats, 20 presets for your favorite stations, 27mpg and a lot more. Not to mention Volvos are super safe.
