Author Topic: is a milkshake a liquid or a solid  (Read 6599 times)

I accidentally gave someone a milkshake a week ago and they brought it back saying it was practically flavored milk. I made them a new one for free though.

Gass is feeling excluded

If you drink a milkshake fast enough, it can give you gas.

If schrodinger makes it, its both

Scientifically, it's a solution involving dissolved substances and undissolved substances so it would be solid since the solvent isn't the smoothie. It's water an the smoothie is the solution of water and the remaining ingredients.

From the forum side, idunnolol

liquids are fluid, solids arent. therefore its liquid

How do you know it's not like sand?
Made up of lots of little solids?

Its the solid part that hasnt melted yet, suspended in melted icecream stuff. Boom problem solved.

hate to ruin your guys's fun but it's a chemical mixture called a sol
it's a type of colloid where solid particles (ice, ice cream) are suspended in a liquid (milk, which in itself is another colloid called an emulsion)

so i guess the answer is yes
