In South America "America" is viewed as both North & South America (as one single continent)

But isn't everyone born in North or South technically an American :P
Actually, "Americas" refers to the continent, not just "America"

Grammatically speaking, America would be the entire continent since we say "North/South/Central America" instead of "Northern/Southern/Central Americas".

Wow, what an starfish.
