The character I made reference to is Caesar Zeppeli, who dies in Part 2 trying to defeat Kars, one of the two alive pillar men, but instead fights Whammu. Caesar makes his last stand there as he nearly gets obliterated by Whammu's Divine Sandstorm and on the brink of death he gives Joesph his final ripple, much like his grandfather did to Johnathan. As he does, he gets crushed under a stone cross, made by the broken floor of the mansion they were fighting in and dies.
