Incomplete List of Industry Changing Epic Games.

Thought it'd be interesting to create a list of all the games which deserve recognition in the gaming world. It'd be interesting to spark a discussion of the best games which have literally changed the gaming industry in their respective genres. I'll start off by adding some of my own opinions, the rest is up for the community to decide. As I'm coming to the halfway in my second year in my games development degree, I need some extra inspiration to create better games for my assignments, it's also useful for those looking for some classic games.
List is subject to change, some suggestions will not be added if it does not meet criteria.
Genres will also be added upon request. This is for single games, NOT franchises.

Please request to add to the list. No moaning, if you want something up/taken down, argue your point.

I feel like Civilization should be on the list instead of Civilization V, as by the time Civ V came out, the franchise was nearly 20 years old. Additionally, I'm not all that sure of anything in particular it did to massively change the 4X genre that the original didn't already do.

id say earthbound and mother are pretty revolutionary rpgs

half that list is so hilariously beyond wrong it just makes the whole thing look like bait

"This is for single games, not franchises."
>Street Fighter

spoiler alert: street fighter 1 was garbage

Gran Turismo for driving

It set the industry standard for future simulators

I know right, he sounds like he's just picking games seemingly at random. The selections in Strategy are laughable too.
"Hmm, what's an incredibly important entry in the Strategy genre? Certainly not Command and Conquer, the game that practically pioneered Real-Time Strategy. Nor Starcraft, the game that literally became a sport, or Warcraft, which had a mod branch off into one of the most played genres in the world right now. No, I got it. Age of Empires. Not even the good one, Age of Empires II, but just plain vanilla AoE."

Super Mario 64 brought some changes to the 3d platforming scene imo

legend of zelda: ocarina of time introduced z targetting

legend of zelda: ocarina of time introduced z targetting

the original legend of zelda perfected the "where the forget do i go" aspect pioneered in E.T. for the atari 2600

Ride to Hell: Retribution should be at the top in every genre.
