What brand of road bikes is best 4 me.

So after realizing my uncle's ram 1500 isn't going to cut it for me (dem gas prices yo) I decided to invest on a road bike since my town has pretty smooth sidewalks/roads.
Currently Mongoose seems like a good choice since it's reasonably priced for a casual like me, but then again I'm a total newb when it comes to bikes lol.

Just a bit of info if it'll help:
I prefer standing while biking for max speed
Sharp turns aren't that hard to maneuver
I'd prefer if it was light as possible since I tend to jet a lot and I really don't want it to have same problem my mountain bike had....

In my honest opinion, either mongoose or cannondale, best bikes I've known of, especially cannondale
