He didn't exactly do wrong by Maxx. His original bit of advice wasn't insulting, just harsh. It wasn't until SystemctOS called him a furcigarette that he got inflammatory.

Maxx's problem is that he isn't putting effort into anything and expects things to change and he's afraid of breaking the mold. This is a problem a lot of people have around that age, and telling them it's just going to get better isn't helpful whatsoever. Fab could have put it in a nicer tone but was it wasn't that mean in the first place.
