What is this?Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak is the latest Homeworld RTS game set on Kharak before the events of the first Homeworld game. It was made by Blackbird Interactive, a group of hardcore Homeworld and Company of Heroes fans, in cooperation with Gearbox Studios, the group that currently owns the rights to Homeworld. The game released on January 20th, 2016.
What's the story?"The planet is dying, but deep in the southern sands of Kharak, an anomaly has been discovered. Could Kharak's salvation lie in the desert? "The Coalition of the Northern kiithid" sends an expedition to investigate the finding deep within enemy-controlled territory. Join chief science officer Rachel S'jet as she leads an expedition across a 13 mission campaign to discover their destiny in this prequel from the original creators of Homeworld and Homeworld 2."
What can you do in this game/What does it play like?Homeworld games are all about Real-time Strategy; mining, researching, building, commanding, and leading large groups of combat units into battle. This game takes an interesting turn from the gameplay of previous Homeworld games, as it is set on a planet instead of in space.
