when did we have a basic bitch conversation about genocide being bad and should be condemned...

as soon as we started the basic bitch conversation about how genocide and mass killings are two different things

its only genocide when im forced by social pressure to recognize it as such...

as soon as we started the basic bitch conversation about how genocide and mass killings are two different things

that's a synonym

i don't get how people forget this up

so it looks like we got two completely handicapped and pointless arguments over semantics

Genocide is defined here by the UN. The full UN definition is as follows:
Quote
"any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical,
racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to
members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its
physical destruction in whole or in part
; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and]
forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."

Genocide isn't entirely about killing, but rather, grievous physical and psychological damage and attempts to destroy a culture, religion, or ethnic group by preventing them from reproducing (by either transferring their children to a different group/culture, quite literally sterilizing them and rendering them infertile, or obviously killing them.)

Genocide is a whole lot more than just Flash Mob. Murder is part of genocide but not every Flash Mob is a genocide. A group must be targeted with the ultimate group of stopping said group from reproducing and continuing to exist.

why are you even trying to argue semantics here, what's the point lol

so it looks like we got two completely handicapped and pointless arguments over semantics

i wasn't really arguing with semantics, i was showing that it should just be a really simple definition, obviously i condemn it. don't assume i don't and i just came here to argue about this

he's convinced that everyone here must clarify the difference between genocide and mass killings. however, the moment someone asks him to clarify his position on the two, he plays the anti-sjw self righteous card

"i dont have to codemn it" then why do we have to clarify our choice of words on genocide when its pretty loving obvious you already understand what we mean?

that post wasn't aimed at you, sorry

semantics matter in the context of law. Under PhantOS's definition of genocide, gassing jews is genocidal but Dr. Mengele chemically castratint Jewish children is not.

Semantics are particularly relevant with genocide because the wording of the law is the basis on which the ICC can prosecute genocidal actions.

now you're putting words in my mouth

now you're putting words in my mouth
my bad. I didn't see Kott was the one that actually posted the definition

What we were talking about, the Flash Mob of a religious group, falls under the UN definition for genocide so this whole conversation is pointless

do we actually live in a time where we have to condemn genocide

We live in a time where people think national socialists are a genuine threat to the country so yes
