It's the "how the forget do we pay for this" part. I already pay a lot of money in tax and raising it would forget me even more considering I'm a college student making minimum wage. Saying "tax wealthy people more" will only make them leave the country and cause an entirely different problem. Look at the state of California as an example. Implementing a Mental Health Tax caused wealthy people to go elsewhere. |

Implementing a Mental Health Tax caused wealthy people to go elsewhere. --- End quote --- yeah that's the tricky part. i don't think it's as simple as "taxes high, people leave," because there's more keeping people in america than just making money, and there would have to be some extreme changes for people to leave the country entirely just because of taxation. but financing social programs is obviously something that has to be considered. alabama is in a really stuff state right now because of how the state government is handling this stuff. we can't really do without social programs, but our state has trouble managing the budget because every time a tax referendum comes up people refuse to pass it, and for good enough reason: nobody likes taxes and nobody wants to pay more. life would be significantly more stuff if the government didn't provide anything for us, and it's just have my own feeling that i'm fine paying my government bill, because it helps keep our standard of living higher overall. since i want government to provide public services for me and everyone else, i have to accept the fact that they don't come for free. |
