Author Topic: is vaping harmful?  (Read 14321 times)

Shortly after, I noticed in the morning I was waking up with this pain on a specific spot on my right lung. Toward the bottom. It was like...someone poking me very hard with their index finger right into my rib-cage, except the feeling was constant, even worse if I tried to "fake cough". I quit the vap and swapped back to regular cigs. Haven't had the lung pain or coughing since

-advice from a smoker
goth really dude
the reason you're feeling pain is because your body's trying to get rid of the stuff in your lungs left over from the cigarettes

No it's because I puffd on the vap about twice as much because I didn't feel the same satisfactory feeling. if you were a smoker you would know this. The vap oil I buy is a coffee flavoured blend that contains 16 MG of nicotine, which should be more than plenty. Why do I find myself puffing on the vap more frequently?

IMO not enough "scientific research" has been done of vap pens/box mods to prove they are "safer" than actual cigs. I don't buy cigs from a pack either, I buy tubes and tobacco in a bag and roll my own with a hand-crank, which I consider to be "less harmful" than traditional pack cigs.

If you're a smoker like me (since the age of 14 on full flavors) then the vap will definitely not satisfy that same "urge" for tobacco. I recommend going full cold turkey if your going to quit, otherwise you're just teasing yourself.

that was made to counter the propaganda on this website

Nicotine absorption is less than cigarettes, you need more than 16mg. I've seen countless upon countless of cases where hardcore smokers switched to a good setup and tapered down to 0 in no time.

Go take a gander at ECR and get your stuff checked.

Vaping is too new the long term effects of e-cigarettes are still unknown.

Pros:
-You're not inhaling plant material, meaning there are, at worst, fewer carcinogens than smoking
-Often contains less active ingredients than cigarettes/"au naturelle" products

Cons:
-Certain brands and types still contains nicotine or tobacco, meaning you'll get just as addicted to it and you'll still have higher risk of lung cancer
-Can trigger allergies/asthma in others, making secondhand smoke still somewhat dangerous

This as well

This isn't really a con seeing how some people buy it for the nicotine and all liquid is clearly labeled. So it's not like you can accidently smoke nicotine e-liquid for months and be like 'oh I had no idea"

Unless you're just a loving idiot lol

Its not even a brand/type basis, its just whether or not it has nicotine in it or not. Its purely an option when buying e-liquid.

Exactly. It would be stuffty if e-liquids didn't have that option because a lot of people will buy some with nicotine and slowly ween themselves off the chemical using ecigs. Its actually a really good way to kick the habit

Yes, my friend Jeff uses 0 nicotine oil and he was a heavier smoker than me! I have been smoking a couple years longer than him though, not sure if that really means anything though. He also gets a coffee-type oil but his has a hint of vanilla in it which tastes very good. I've puffed on it a few times when we were at the bar shooting pool

My point exactly. Not saying cigs are any healthier, but at least you know the source.

Basically, with a traditional ciggy, you are inhaling a smoke that is literally burned, a compound chemical, also called a carcinogen. With vap oil, you are usually inhaling a form of freebase nicotine with flavoring. This flavoring is the tricky part because no-one actually knows where these flavors comes from (although usually a form of propylene glycol)

The fact remains that e-cigs only became big just recently (introduced into America in 2007)
I guess we just have to wait and see folks

i have literally 0 clue as to what the forget you're trying to say here

He was confirming my first point. When you light up a cigarette or joint, you're physically burning plant material that is releasing smoke. This smoke has particulates in it, that, when inhaled, can cause damage to the lungs and in the long term can significantly increase your risk of lung cancer. With vapes, you don't have any plant material being burned, only active ingredients and water being vaporized, which doesn't make the same damaging particulates.
