How to allow multiple poll selections

Does anybody know how to set up a poll that allows you to select more than one option? I see it all the time but i've never been able to find the option for it. Is it a userscript?

You can't create a poll without clicking "new poll", can you?
If you click "new topic" then it doesn't give you an option for polls, even under Additional Options.

After the thread is made you can add a poll iirc

You can add a poll after the thread is made, but it doesn't have as much options for some reason

if you click "new topic" you can make a poll afterwards, but it won't have the multi-choice option if you'd used "new poll"

It's odd that you don't get full control if you don't start a poll topic.
