Author Topic: [BLF Opinion dump] Are children, teenagers, young adults now too "soft?"  (Read 16181 times)

I think the whole personal pronoun thing is stupid (xe/xir/xirself, et al)

isn't it the point of pronouns that they aren't personal?
Im glad I've never met anyone who prefers to be called these

i very much disagree with people thinking that 'you're whatever you feel like inside your head'

you aren't male or female unless you are physically male or female. don't say 'but people have genetilia disorders!' because chromosomes, that is until you have some sort of surgery / hormones that physically alter your body.
this applies to there being only 2 gender / lovees.

I say there's multiple ways to express yourself, like going "I'm gender neutral" not as in "I have no gender" but that "I don't classify myself and personality by gender, I don't really care" - though they'll still express their own biological love as-is: biological love.

Anything along the lines of "I'm a <whatever>loveual" or "<whatever>gender" is not my thing, though. I feel there are ways to express existing biological characteristics, but spirituality has little to do with it.

Guys, theres forumers who think gender =/= boy or girl

Ipquarx isn't wrong, he's just operating under a different definition of gender than you are.

The majority of people conflate gender with love, but in academic circles it means something different. Some people use the word to refer to how someone expresses themselves in terms of masculinity/femininity. It's reasonable to do this because we already have a word that refers strictly to physiological gender - love.

In your defense, it's honestly pretty stupid to debate the semantics of what 'gender' means. On one hand, the word 'gender' has been used to colloquially refer to love pretty much forever, and you're just being an starfish if you're hassling someone about it. On the other hand, this is English and words can change meaning whenever they want, based on how people choose to use and define them.

When I'm talking about this kind of stuff, I either say 'love' or 'gender expression' because that makes it perfectly clear what I'm talking about. I'd much rather change my vocabulary than say something unclear that I have to argue with people about. I honestly think that most of the debate over gender is just people being confused with how other people are using words.

For instance,

The people you are talking about are using the words 'male' and 'female' in a completely different context than you are. They're talking about 'males', meaning people who express themselves as masculine. Not 'males' as in people with a Y chromosome and a snake.

You aren't using these words wrong at all. It's just other people are using them with a different working definition.

Nice try.

I can understand there being a gender "spectrum" between male and female, but there are not any genders further than those. You're not a dragon or the moon or the entire universe.

I identify as autistic and as such have decided that people should suck it up and not try to be special snowflakes for no reason

Thanks Seventh. And it's not just an academic definition, it's pretty common. The fact of the matter is, what chromosomes you have don't always equate to how you act, think, or look. Not only is there no harm in using it, but it greatly benefits those who have had gender dysphoria and have made a transition. You have less people committing Self Delete, more happier people that no longer suffer from a serious condition that they have no control over. It's a win-win all around.

In my honest opinion, there's heteroloveual, homoloveual, biloveual, and aloveual.  Other than that, it means you have some kind of psychosis.
