Author Topic: Mr Queeba's Base Raiders  (Read 3228 times)

The amount of players on the server is really surprising to me.
Anyway, when I get home I'll get on and make sure things are going well. I may also share a preview of the new map (it's unfinished, expect it to look ugly and bare at the moment).
I would also like to thank TheBlackParrot for keeping the server up and jes00 for working on fixing bugs. You guys are the best.

server crashed
what happened?

Is there anyone here that is good at building that would like to help me work on a new map for the server? I took a few hours to make one but it was subpar, so I may need some help with making a good one.

Some bugs caused the server to go down hard (lots of used city power despite no printers). TBP and stufflord tried to restart, but could not start the server after shutting it down.
EDIT: Restarted.
EDIT 2: Updated server with item buying fix. The Guns Tetrakaikimbo may now be purchased again.
EDIT 3: Does anyone have a save of a non-default map that would be suitable for Base Raiders and better than the current map?

The map is going to be changed very soon. Just have to sort out a thing with missing bricks and it'll be deployed.

ok good
sorry for the salt in the previous post i was just heated up

yeah seriously this map is waaaaaay too small for this kind of gamemode, especially when the player count is 20+

I agree, snipers can make the map turn into duck hunt, as well being the map being overcrowded and everything is taken makes players make custom fortresses out of barricades.

desert town isn't a good map for this at all - its designed for straight up combat not base building

collab city wouldd be much better by far. i'll post an edited version (shrunken down) here soon.

Alright.
I'm just worried because I don't have any maps at my disposal ATM that people can agree are good.
I'll try out the map edit you're making when you finish it. I may have to edit the spawns myself.

you're going to have to put in the spawns yourself, if not more. i blocked off most op/bad sections, but there's probably still exploits

if there's any setting to prevent players from building above a certain height, you should put them in place and set it below the building rooftops. I asked jes00 in the gamemode topic if there is; if there isnt, you can probably PM him.

otherwise you'll have a heck of a job ahead of you to close up gaps behind buildings.

hey p sure I just saw buildermaster just orb into someones base during the fighting phase

Desert Town's biggest issue is that there's an overabundance of useless and very open buildings (overabundance of windows) and like one or two bases that have only one point of entrance (there's a box-like building which has 4 entrances with long hallways that can be walled off with strength-7 walls and there's no other point of entrance around the entire building).
We need a map that strikes balance for every building placed, so there are at the very least two directions you can take and at least 4 points of entrance per building/location.

-snip-
So this looks cool, but the problem with collab city is that almost none of the buildings have interiors, and those that do (for the most part) have little space. That means you'll have to make most of your base in the streets or rush to secure the building with the most interior space. I guess you could try it though, it'd still be better than the desert map. it's a shame Reinforcements never released his BR map.
