Author Topic: are these kicks worth 200 dollars  (Read 11119 times)

buying fancy clothes is like buying fancy kits/parts for your car. its a hobby and makes it looks good.
you dont have to do it and you can see of it as a waste of money, but to some people it isnt

there are plenty of hobbies that make me think like why would you waste money on that, like anything related to RC vehicles imo. but im not going on a rant by how expensive those things are and why people would buy that.

some people have a big garage, some people have a big closet, for example, it's just another hobby, and it's all expensive. because hobbyists care for their hobby and want to go in-depth. no RC hobbyist would just take the cheapest RC car and call it a day. No fashion hobbyist would buy skechers and call it a day.

when it comes to what makes people happy you should keep an open mind. when they buy those 350$ shoes, they might just feel the same as you installing that new 350$ graphics card into your system. (as example, not an attempt to generalize)

how much have people spent on video games in the past year? i would like to know that

My video games aren't going to be worn down just by using them though.
No matter how careful you are to avoid mud in your shoes, you're going to wear down the treads and the insoles, and they will get dust on them, and probably get wet.

My video game, being digital in nature, is going to last forever, regardless of how much I use it.

And at any rate, comparing video games to expensive trainers, eventually comes down to a question of quantity.
I can spend £200 and get anywhere from 5 expensive games, to 100 cheap games. You can spend £200 and get one pair of trainers.

You're missing the point. People spend money on whatever they want because it's their money. If someone has a hobby for collecting video games, digital or otherwise, they'll probably spend money on it. With kicks, people like to collect them as a hobby, and will spend as much money as required to spice up their collection

I know quite a few people who keep their yeezys in glass boxes and hardly ever wear them but just love to keep them for show

it would take a reallllly good looking pair of shoes to convince me to spend more than $60 on them, and i doubt i would evvver spend more than $160 on a single pair, much less $200

but i'm frugal when it comes to clothes and such, because i'm not totally into it

on the other hand, if i end up buying the car i'm looking at this weekend, i'm likely going to spend WELL over $200 on pre-planned mods that will probably take another car person to really notice or appreciate. but i won't care, because to me it will make owning and driving the car that much more enjoyable. i can see how others are that way with shoes, and it's not like they're thinking "oh this looks nice i think i'll spend $300 on it", because it's their hobby or passion: it's the one thing they are irrationally willing to spend so much on

I mean you're not going to play that game for forever either

Ultimately both of them only give you superficial satisfaction, right? Going by your logic of usefulness, shoes are more useful than video games because they are actually physical and will protect you from the ground. Video games are only in a computer. They do not give you any benefit besides being entertained. So why buy them? Because you like video games. It's that simple.

I have never seen this much hostility towards another hobby on the BLF before lmao. I don't know if it is some form of jealousy or just not being able to understand that people like different things than you and that's ok.

It's a really biased forum, considering the majority of the people here identify video games as their primary hobby. You're bound to find quite a few "popular things are stupid" people who just can't understand the appeal of trending culture

You made some good points but pretty much repeated what Ravencroft was saying. Points for effort though
