Author Topic: Question about running dual GPUs  (Read 1027 times)

So I'm running a GTX 980 in my current rig and I'm about to drop some more money into it. So far I'm replacing the PSU and switching cases, and I was wondering if SLI with such high end graphics cards would be worth it. I know 980s are "good enough by themselves" but I'm really just trying to go overkill with this thing.

Should I
A: Just keep the single 980
B: Wait for the 1080
C: Go SLI with two 980s
?

It's going to be cheaper for you to just hold out, honestly. SLI itself brings a host of new problems, as not every game handles it (or handles it well).

more cost effective to wait for the 1080 I think

just look at score/benchmark comparisons online

Wait for AMD Polaris/Vega

SLI/Crossfire only works good depending if the game supports it
Keep your current one or wait for pascal

I would atleast wait to invest in the 1080
I dont know much about SLI but dont you need identical cards to pull it off?

wait for the 1080. there's tons of compatibility issues with SLI and in some cases, you get frame stuttering.

Alright looks like I'll be saving for the 1080.

Thanks everyone.
