Author Topic: Need Help with Addons. Again.  (Read 10451 times)

I think it is very likely that Blockland is not running out of the blockland folder you're putting the add-ons in.

That's the only idea I have.

this is what I've been thinking, but difficult to get any evidence for this so far

Maybe it's cached somewhere else.
can you search your computer for the trustlist? from the root directory down

Ok, so, big news. I found a whole separate new Blockland folder under Documents. There, I have my client with stuff inside, same with server, everything is there, including a new Addons folder. This folder had no new addons in it, only Vanilla. I put a test addon in, Item_SpicyItalian.zip, and, for some reason, Blockland won't launch. I'll double click the Icon on my desktop, and nothing will happen.

Here's my Console.log for the "New" Blockland that won't launch:

Ok Wtf. Just by accessing this new Blockland folder, Blockland won't start at all, Addon in the new Addon Folder or not.

Someone help my Blockland isn't working...

Sorry for the late response, anyways.

You need to download WinRAR (If you haven't) It automatically makes the add-ons you download as zip files.
If you have it downloaded, you can easily make a zip file by right clicking - new - zipfile (I might be wrong, Mac users might not have that function, but it wouldn't matter)

If you got add-ons that are folders, download them again. They should appear as a .zip file when you have WinRAR installed on your computer.
If you delete your add-ons folder, they will be reinstalled again with default add-ons just by launching blockland.

You should only have one Add-Ons folder in your documents or wherever the blockland directory is. The folder should exactly be named "Add-Ons" It may work both ways, but, it is recommended. Trustlist has nothing to do with Add-ons.

The main problem here is that nobody has noticed that you don't have WinRAR, which is why the add-ons you download come as folders. Winrar is available for Mac.

Which is why the problem about the add-ons appearing as folders persists.

so for macs, addons must be in zipped folders?
I was unaware that blockland treated addons differently on mac rather than on windows

no, but it helps to figure out where the folder that blockland is looking at is

Yes, it does. Thank you for helping me get Blockland working again

Downloading Add-Ons and they come as a folder in Windows and they manage to work.
As the OP says; in Mac, the Add-Ons appear as a folder and they don't load. Apparently, Blockland treats addons differently on Mac. I also, thought they would work as folders in Mac; then I realized that Blockland reads add-ons as WinRAR files and Windows Folders. Closest answer I could get to; possibly someone else knows why.

I found some support for your answer:
Microsoft Windows OS use two major file systems: FAT, inherited from old DOS with its later extension FAT32, and widely-used NTFS file systems. Recently released ReFS file system was developed by Microsoft as a new generation file system for Windows 8 Servers.
Apple Mac OS operating system applies HFS+ file system, an extension to their own HFS file system that was used on old Macintosh computers.

HFS+ file system is applied to Apple desktop products, including Mac computers, iPhone, iPod, as well as Apple X Server products. Advanced server products also use Apple Xsan file system, clustered file system derived from StorNext or CentraVision file systems.

seems like literally the only time winrar is actually useful for once

stlil doesn't mean one needs to buy it, though, it seems
