Author Topic: Why does Blockland only support Mono type music/sounds?  (Read 1584 times)

Badspot limits the size of music files in Blockland to avoid issues with copyrighted music appearing in his game or being shared on his website.  I wouldn't be surprised if he also limits the type of music files which can be used.  Whether that's intentional or through his own inaction.

Blockland can read .ogg and .wav files, both mono and stereo. The engine has no file size limit.

you can get stereo music to work if you make it play it using a 2d object, not a 3d object (bad at explaining this help)

2d is usually serverwide and is always at the same volume

3d changes volume depending on how near you are to it, which is why it's 3d

yeah you can use stereo, it doesn't change volume depending where you are, you just simply hear it if you're in the radius. it's not affected by /timescale changes either

Blockland will support nothing but mono ogg for the considerable future. An engine-wide rewrite would be required to imprpve this.
its an engine limitation, not a design choice
Would help to not spread misinformation. It does support stereo sounds.
