It's not about shooting people who disagree with the government it's about people who shoot at cops because they're indignant pieces of stuff. Unless you're just bitching about me referencing "Kent State" in which I also think that we should shoot protesters who throw rocks at police.
But it makes cops feel more safe which means they're less likely to fire on someone in a pressured situation. So it actually reduces violence. If people were 'more afraid of police' they would be more likely to be compliant, which would result in less police shootings. Which also reduces violence.
That's actually a pretty fair and reasonable stance, now that you've explained it. And yes, I was bitching about you referencing Kent State as though it was a positive thing.
The largest problem that I have with it, though, is that it feels like militarization of police will further move us towards becoming a police state. We already have the mass surveillance normally associated with one, and making people fear the police also seems like it would make civilians feel more threatened on a daily basis.
