Well it would make sense for you, but figuring things like this out with guiding is a fantastic learning opportunity.

Prefs are especially troubling here because there are tons of wrong/outdated examples around, that attempt to execute RTB, check for files that aren't required, etc

Do you remember the bug where half the preferences wouldn't show? It was caused by bad add-ons executing RTB again and resetting the counter, overwriting the already existing prefs.

Showing example usage of an API is fine, I was rather referring to before.

The "spoonfeed" part is not a joke, but an exaggeration.

Thanks for the advice so far, but please don't start fighting over who offers the best.
