Author Topic: I spit out about a shotglass and a half of blood this morning  (Read 1563 times)

you know op best case scenario is that you had a nosebleed in your sleep and it went straight to your mouth because you were lying down
That's actually a pretty good answer

You'd know if it was your gums, they'd be bright red and shiny, not pink. They also wouldn't bleed that profusely if you're accurate in how much you bled.

However if you had a cut you would expect it to carry on bleeding after brushing, whereas gums tend to stop pretty quickly.

Given that you can't find a source and it was a lot of blood I would reccomend you see your doctor or dentist.
To be on the safe side when you brush next, brush gently and in little circles. Use a soft-bristled brush if you have one.

If you want to try and rule out a nosebleed have a check up your nose and try to see if there is any caked in blood on the walls of the nostril.

also are you sure that it wasn't just a mixture of blood and mucus? nosebleeds tend to carry some snot with it and make it look like there's a lot more blood than there actually is
if it was pure blood then maybe not

maybe it's because you smoked those leaves

thank you for the answer, but one of my gums is inflamed, but it doesnt bleed so much, only when the bristles of a brush touch it

if there was a nose bleed there would be a trail of dried blood under my nostrils, there was no caked in blood so we can rule that out, thanks for the suggestion though

Cut down on the salt intake.  If that doesn't work, go see your doctor about your blood coagulation level.

why are we using shot glasses as a unit of measurement

yes, this happened to me once

scariest stuff ever my phone was bathed in blood and my pillow was bloody and wet

I wouldn't worry a lot if I were you, but definitely consider additional iron in your diet perhaps.  Investigate any possible cuts in your mouth.  If it stopped quickly I'm willing to bet it was in the gums, your gums don't have to be visibly bleeding too much to bleed.  Hell I can make my gums bleed by being too harsh with floss, and they'll bleed a fair amount for a short amount of time.

Only if this was a rare occurrence actually.  Once when I was young I had a really bad flu and for some reason lots of nosebleeds, and I mean lots to the point where I was popping iron supplements as much as I could and we were still worried about blood loss.  At one point nosebleeds were happening so often and even while sleeping that the blood flowed down into my stomach to the point where so much got in my stomach it made me heavily nauseated and throw it all up.  If it was one time it's probably a best case scenario though.

you probably bit yo tongue in your sleep

i ate about 10 shot glasses worth of breakfast today

i had about 15 shot glasses worth of mango powerade last night
