at a domestic summit in the city he formerly served as mayor, duterte held a live speech wherein he addressed the criticisms he's received from the US and EU regarding his regime. he's quoted as declaring "I read the condemnations of the EU against me, and I will tell them 'forget you,' " then punctuated his message with a smug middle finger.

duterte claims he is railing against the west because of their injustices against the philippines, but if the arms trade is anything to go by, he's clearly burning bridges so the philippines can fall within china's sphere of influence.
