amendments are just that, amendments. they weren't even in the constitution in the first place (not that it's very relevant what people thought the country needed 200 years ago either way). they can just as easily, and no less rightly as far as the government is concerned, be amended back out of it. the constitution isn't like the bible or something. it isn't automatically perfect, and neither are all of the amendments made to it
