yeah icytwat is my idol and inspiration for all of these. im trying my best to make my own style and not just clone it

They're pretty good. You use really nice sounds in these tracks but the compositions aren't really as engaging as they could be. It doesn't feel like there's enough going on in them as purely instrumental songs to keep my attention for the whole duration of the songs. I like the throwaway one the most https://soundcloud.com/l1lspr1ng1/throwaway1.

wow this is pretty good. the intro had me worried cause of how little was going on, but once things picked up the intro is quaint in a good way compared to the rest of the track. great production, healthy variety of percussion instruments. I think Brickman is correct in saying you could maybe add more elements to the track as it wraps up, it doesn't lose energy per se but it would be a fine idea to add more energy to the latter half since it's an instrumental with no vocals to keep the listener's attention.

to be fair, i could never see anyone rapping over Depths by Fat Jon because it's strictly made as a pure instrumental hip-hop track. whereas anything off of MF DOOM's Special Herbs, whilst being great beats, is in my opinion not nearly as engaging as anything off of Fat Jon's Wave Motion. That being said, put MF DOOM's raps over his beats and then boom, you've got some of the best hip-hop of all time.

Perry definitely is making beats to be rapped over, so from that standpoint i don't think they're not engaging.

With all that said, building strong hip-hop instrumentals that stand alone is pretty damn vital to becoming better at hip-hop overall, and can also get you pretty popular. That's just my two cents

thanks so much for the feedback, guys! i just bought FL studio so i'm trying to get used to that before i make my next beat. i'll take the critique into consideration and make the beats a little more interesting
