What's wrong with Unity? Even if it's not as good as Unreal Engine perhaps it's definitely better than Torque Game Engine, Blitz 3D etc.

I've always wanted to try out Linux for myself one day, I'm just kinda worried about possible incompatibilities with the games and software I use. If I ever do use it, it'll probably be with a dual boot type system

If you've never tried setting up Arch before you could try following https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?title=Installation_guide in VirtualBox or something similar just so you've tried it
Afterwards, it's really just a matter of setting up the bootloader & partitions right. There's a bunch of information here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dual_boot_with_Windows
The Arch Linux wiki is one of the best for any operating system there is, I really recommend having a look around on it
