--- Quote from: kongo on December 29, 2016, 03:51:21 PM ---i don't recall any furry i know saying it's strange

--- End quote ---
Have you ever asked them if they think it's strange?
I myself have said it several times just in this thread

--- Quote from: kongo on December 29, 2016, 03:51:21 PM ---but this doesn't mean that every furry is only hated because of them being different. a lot of them are degenerates and create "works of art" that are just disgusting to a normal person, which of course can be said about a lot of communities, even blockland.

--- End quote ---
Yes, every furry gets hate just for being furry.
I think what you're trying to say is "I don't hate all of them, and plenty of other people don't hate all of them."
But there are plenty of people who do blanket hate all of them because of a few bad apples

--- Quote from: kongo on December 29, 2016, 03:51:21 PM ---you said most regular people don't care, this is what you said  about people that hate furries
--- End quote ---
OK, so my wording was slightly different. I said "your average person"
Not everyone is "your average person"
The meaning is still the same

--- Quote from: kongo on December 29, 2016, 03:51:21 PM ---the ONLY reason i can see someone who doesn't like furries stopping at a furry convention is because they're either recording it to make some silly video on why they don't like furries, are there simply to harass furries, or are just interested and would rather learn more, but i highly doubt the latter

--- End quote ---
As I said, there's plenty of businesspeople on trips,  people who just happened to book a room at the same hotel and same date as a furcon .
One of my conventions is a small con at a large hotel, so the hotel is able to schedule other events within the same time frame. This year we were paired with some medical examiner conference.
And, yes, as you said, for the most part, everyone's busy with their own things. But everyone has a good amount of downtime in which they are able to interact, and the interactions are friendly.
Also, fun fact, the latter is why I am where I am. I used to think conventions and fursuits where goofy as hell and I wanted nothing to do with them. But when one started up in my area, I said "what the hell" and gave it a fair chance and end up having a ton of fun. So yes, it does happen

--- Quote from: kongo on December 29, 2016, 03:51:21 PM ---keep in mind the tony the tiger research is on the second row of images in a google search, so i'm only looking at the first four rows.

--- End quote ---
Yes, but this isn't exactly the best source to use for this.
I believe Google bumps more frequently shared images to the top. So if people are going around saying "hey look at this forgeted up image I found" (which is obviously more likely with Tony then some anime) it'll be bumped up. Also, you have basically the smallest sample size possible

--- Quote from: kongo on December 29, 2016, 03:51:21 PM ---i'm talking about the tag you can put on your profile specifically for telling people what you are, not on the pictures themselves

--- End quote ---
Oh, I see
That's really just part of a profile though
A quick way to say "hey this is what my main character is"
That doesn't mean "I am this animal stuck in a man's body"
Sure some people do think that, but for most people it's just fun to play a character. Look at regular cosplaying for instance. Someone dressed as, say, a stormtrooper, doesn't believe they're actually a stormtrooper. It's just fun to play a character.
Yes, furries do tend to be more "attached" to their character than a stormtrooper cosplayer would be "attached" to a stormtrooper. But that's not caused by being furry, that's caused by the fact that they created the character themselves.
I've seen the same attachment in video games with extremely heavy character customization. Back when I played Mabinogi, a few of my friends commissioned art of their in game characters. One of these friends still uses one of these art pieces as avatars on various places, despite having quit the game long ago.
Plenty of people have art of their Blockland ingame avatar. A few people have made Blockhead costumes for Halloween.
Another one of my friends created her own anime-style character that she uses as a representation of herself in art she draws.
None of these people who do this believe they are actually that character, it's just a fun alternative representation.
Again, sure, it's a bit sillier to use an animal character. But it's essentially the same thing
