HL3 will most likely never happen and we might get a HL/Portal movie and a side-story game in either series.

honestly tho half life is kinda dry, and i feel like a 3rd installment would just be kinda underwhelming. a side story in the same universe would be much more interesting, and would allow for more content from the game imo

i would like a new half life episode because the first two were fun as stuff i actually liked them more than actual half life 2 but like you said i don't think valve will be able to live up to the wait they'll have to add loving gabe newell's richard for it to live up to the wait
