my parents bought me a book and I am insulted

SuperSuit12:
I am offended by the fact my parents bought me this. I got the paper copy. It's pre-owned. Apparently the previous owner didn't like it any more than I did, it's got a fold in the back cover, the sort that drives me nuts.

In all seriousness, it makes me feel like they think I've got a fairly serious mental issue! I do have a mental issue, but not a serious one. I never had any issues like the book's author describes himself as having, I just got bored easily and I'm a bit immature. I don't need a book on how to life any more than anyone else, at least in my opinion. The only thing I'm concerned about is when I get to move out (Which won't be soon with how my parents apparently see me, I wanna bail as soon as I'm in college and live on campus/near campus) and whether or not I end up making a better lego game than any that currently exists. The college I'm most seriously considering is a state school that can't really deny me (as long as I finish high school and pass). I feel like nothing's going to be a real issue. I can't decide on a college, I don't WANT to go to a prestigious one, I don't want people to look at the degree I earn, I want to learn things and apply that and have people look at the RESULT of the learning and not WHERE I learned it.

Woah this got more serious than expected
this was originally just gonna be "[link that says I'm insulted]. what do?"
Perry:
your parents are probably looking out for you, considering the fact that they spent actual currency they worked to earn on a book that is supposed to help you with life stuff. if i had aspergers i would be really happy to finally get a book that teaches me how to be more successful in my challenging life

its actually ironic because the book would probably teach you to be more grateful esp if you have aspergers
Freek:
just see it as a nice gesture, they're looking out for you and want the best

I'd be glad if my parents bought me something worth 11 bucks
