This. It's really lame that they made up that rumor, especially since it could have turned out very badly. And it's good you confronted them to clear the air. But the best way to deal with rumors is to simply ignore them, not get all bent out of shape and worried. They probably wanted to hurt your feelings; this thread shows they succeeded. If it continues just tell the administration. Wishing you the best op.
