French commanders order their troops to go into a defensive faze, moving back into the city. This makes Calvery movements tough in the urban enviorment. The multiple amounts of line infantry fortify in the buildings, as well as in the fortifications. The sappers continue to pound enemy lines mercilessly, as too the line infantry.

while isolation from west european politics remains the dominant foreign policy, russia reopens standard relations with central europe

an alliance between prussia, russia and austria is proposed for the sake of peace in eastern europe and superiority over the trio's respective spheres of influence

tomorrow I'll catch up on events that were meant to happen this year

cheers
ok here are some of the things:

although russia has seized much of afghanistan's sandy perches, the government has gone into exile and refuses to discuss surrender

---

the spanish-morocco war rages on as moroccan cavalry fight to the last man, stopping an enemy offensive for the time being

---

nejd has declared war upon hejaz for the purpose of uniting arabia

---

the american civil war appears to be a humongous stufffest right now so I'll have to sort through it but tl;dr the confederates won bull run/manassas and are currently performing a general offensive into pennsylvania to cut new england off

Ulysses S. Grant takes control of the Union Army.
A force of 82,000 men meet the confederate offense in Gettysburg.
Lincoln orders a general blockade against Southern trade.
A force of 5,000 men is stopped by Confederate forces in Belmont, Missouri.
D.C. is heavily fortified.

Otto Von Bismarck looks at Britain and nods, and then at Russia. "Austria is allied to France. There is no balance of power, and there will be disputes over interests. We cannot accept while Austria is in bed with Germany's enemy... such a disgrace!"

Guten tag, Britreich! Ally, ja?

Denmark, do NOT try to influence the Germans in H-S. Your previous actions are appalling..., attacking a pure German culture by spreading your Danish culture and proposing these CONSTITUTIONS to try to take away their freedoms....

Relinquish these people from your damned culture to our protection!

japan requests a pledge of protection from russia, and drops conscription from the outrageous number of 20% to a mere 5%

Hey now, let's bring conflict to the North Sea Trade Pact. (Assuming that happened? I never really got more word on it.)

Perhaps a peaceful solution can be worked out to bring Schleswig-Holstein under Prussian influence?

russia pledges to protect japan

as the last hostile holdouts in afghanistan are slowly overtaken, the russian protectorate of afghanistan is declared. it is a secular autocracy, modeled closely after the russian government. work on improving the area does not yet begin, however, due to the ongoing threat of guerrillas.

new recruits from the second conscription spike are trained in better-held regions of aghanistan, and the majority of the undeployed military is stationed in inner asia.
