They are to operate as a 'national defense' force, or in other words, as some of a militia comprised of recruits from the Cisleithania regions of the Austrian Empire. With nationalist interests, the Landwehr undergoes immediate strengthening and improvement following their establishment. The army undergoes further mobilization.
The actions of the Austrians continue to be influenced by Prussia, a group of freshly-uniformed Landwehr militia troops circling and stationing themselves by the French embassy, a couple officers of the Imperial Austrian Army standing out front to watch over the scene, bayonets fixed upon their rifles slung around their backs.
Protection of the South German states if further guaranteed by Austria, as Prussia already has those of the Northern states ensured. Diplomats are sent out to hold discussions over the future of Austria's relation with the South German minors, and the possibilities of a closer relationship.
