[Poll] Which political party of the US do you prefer

Pages: << < (16/18) > >>

Perry:

"I live in the best country" ---> "Everyone else's country is bad" ---> "Because they dont live in my country, they are lower than me" ---> "I don't care what horrible event happens to those who are lower than me" ---> "I actively support people lower than me being killed" ---> "How about I start killing those who weren't born here but who live in my country because they're not as good as me"

this is how genocide usually starts and ends. it usually takes a leader who says something like "you're right, everyone else is subhuman" for normal people to get riled up and think killing is alright

I know, I said I don't support any extreme form of patriotism/nationalism. If you're adhering to the idea that "nationalism" exclusively means "extreme patriotism," then no, I wouldn't consider myself "nationalistic" in your eyes, but I wouldn't recommend being that stubborn over semantics.

--- Quote from: SeventhSandwich on January 23, 2017, 05:00:35 PM ---What you're describing is basically just patriotism - and there's nothing wrong with patriotism. The problem with nationalism is that it involves protectionism, cutting foreign aid, and opposition to international organizations.

Extreme nationalism :^)
Again, I don't automatically believe that "nationalism" inherently means "extreme patriotism" or whatever, but if that's where the tides of English are heading then great I guess I'm just patriotic lol.

--- Quote from: IkeTheGeneric on January 23, 2017, 05:02:33 PM ---Textbook definition is synonymous, but there's a pretty clear defined difference between the both, despite what Nonnel may believe, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with patriotism. God bless America.

Ultimately, the word we use doesn't really matter. When I'm talking about 'nationalism', I'm talking about Annoying Orange's nationalism.

You mean what you described nationalism as earlier?
