the country was industrialized, the leader actually had some consideration for the working class, he was a great person. it was one of the few times the country prospered

I noticed that when Portugal refused to give up her colonies that the British and others said they were blind to the "winds of change"

That sounds like a modern day "ITS CURRENT YEAR" excuse.

Also didn't Spain prosper under Franco?

nothing needs to be achieved. the only goal all people can agree on is happiness, and if people can find happiness by themselves and without taking away the abilities of others to find happiness, then you've already made the perfect state.

all I know that all elder people I've talked to had good things to say about estado novo
